Owl’s Nest Resort & Golf Club, located in Thornton, New Hampshire, is the state’s only Nicklaus Design golf course. Located on 600 acres, our resort community features 27 luxury rental homes, an on-site restaurant, new Sperry tent event facility, golf & retail shop and activity/fitness center. A dramatic expansion plan is underway to transition the resort to a four-season getaway with a wide array of activities and outdoor pursuits.


The Event Planner provides day to day administration and supervision of all aspects of Special Events including social events such as weddings, rehearsal dinners, and proms, and Resort events such as golf tournaments, leagues, stay and play, special dinners. The Event Planner is the primary point of contact for all inquiries on confirmed events. The Event Planner works with all members of the Food & Beverage team to maintain the high quality and standards as determined by the General Manager as well as the financial and labor responsibilities as determined by the CFO and Human Resources. The Event Planner will utilize current and learned skills to increase revenue and guest satisfaction and decrease expenses and waste.

This is a year-round position that will average 30-40+ hours per week during the months of May through October and generally less than 20 hours per week from November through April. Company benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO) and 401k.


  • Responds to all inquiries promptly.
  • Conducts all meetings with clients.
  • Oversees event execution from start to finish: set up, service and break down.
  • Maintains all BEO’s and prepares BEO packages for meetings.
  • Conducts pre-event meetings with staff to relay information and expectations.
  • Makes suggestions about improvements to Events.
  • Works to develop and implement marketing plans.
  • Provides input for yearly budgeting.
  • Coordinates with vendors during event planning and execution.
  • Creates proposals and billing structures in line with approved formats.
  • Issues invoices and collects deposits and pre-payments according to established and approved schedules and formats.
  • Maintains a current inventory of all necessary small wares, linen, and furniture.
  • Places all necessary rental orders.
  • In accordance with established HR protocols, assists with the recruitment and training of event staff.
  • Maintains professional demeanor and confidentiality.

  • Excellent communication skills and phone manner.
  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Utilize appropriate reservation/catering software.
  • Able to multi-task and work under stressful situations.
  • Professionalism when dealing with all staff and guests.
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Willing to acknowledge areas for growth.
  • Tips trained and certified.

  • Valid Driver’s License. Limited in-state travel may be required


  • This is a hands-on position.
  • Availability on Holidays, Weekends and Nights is required.
  • Climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, carrying, bending, reaching, standing and walking constantly.
