John Gabbeitt

Director of Agronomy

John began his career in Golf Course Maintenance 35 years ago. After graduating college, John moved to Maryland to become an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. After five years in that role, John accepted his first position as Golf Course Superintendent. In 2005, a Golf Course Superintendent position opened at Owl’s Nest Golf Club, which John accepted and despite changing management, has been with Owl’s Nest ever since.

Owl’s Nest has seen big changes in recent years expanding John’s role to Director of Agronomy for Owl’s Nest Resort. This is a role he enjoys as every day is a learning experience. It is rewarding for him to be part of a great team for a growing resort in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Joe Clark Jr.

Head Golf Professional - Owl's Nest Resort

Head Professional Joe Clark Jr has been a Golf Professional since 1976 when he was an assistant and teaching professional at White Mt CC in Ashland NH. He was the Golf Professional at Highland Links Colony Club from 1980-1998. He also is a Golf Professional at The TPC at the Woodlands CC in The Woodlands Texas.

He was brought up in the game by his father, Joe Clark, Sr, who was a Master PGA Professional and was the Teaching Professional at Owls Nest Golf Club for many years. Joe Jr has been a teaching and playing professional at Owl’s Nest since its inception in 1998 and has been the Head Professional since 2020.

Joe was also a tournament player from1980-2014 and still competes in several tournaments a year. Joe’s playing record over the years included playing in 2 Senior British Open Championships at Muirfield and Turnberry in Scotland. Qualified for and played in 6 Champions Tour events, Won the Desert Systems Open in Phoenix, won the Maine Open Championship, Cape Cod Open, Central NY Open, Prince Edward Island Open, Nova Scotia Open, US Express Open, and was a 3-time winner on the North Atlantic Tour.

Joe offers instruction in private lessons, group lessons, clinics, short game, pre-shot routine, playing lessons, course management, golf psychology, and Jr clinics.

His teaching philosophy is “Keep it as simple as possible and try not to overload anyone with too many technical thoughts. Golf is a great game but it’s not easy. I try to work within their own swing as much as possible and make it enjoyable as well as informative”.

Joe has two daughters, Devon who resides in Seattle, Washington, and works at Navy Federal Credit and Abby who resides in Bedminster, NJ, owns a Ninja Gym and has gained fame as an American Ninja Warrior.

Cole Ryan

SportsNest Operations Manager

Cole took his first swing at golf when he was ten years old. He played Varsity Golf for four years at Campbell High School, competing in the 2015 and 2016 NHIAA Golf Championships. Cole graduated in 2017 and began working at Amherst Country Club. He then went on to play at Plymouth State University while majoring in Business Management and minoring in Criminal Justice. During his playing time at Plymouth State University, he was offered a part time job at Owl’s Nest in the fall of 2018. While at Plymouth State, he qualified for the NCCGA Championship his senior year and competed at Seaview Resort in New Jersey.

Upon graduating from Plymouth State in 2021, he accepted a position as the Assistant Golf Shop Manager. In 2022, he was promoted to SportsNest Operations Manager where he oversees the daily operations of the golf course and racquet complex.

Bailey Nangle

Head Golf Professional - White Mountain Country Club

Head Golf Professional, Bailey Nangle played Varsity Golf locally out of Plymouth Regional High School in 2015-2016. Competing in the NHIAA Championship in 2016. Bailey stood out as a resilient player at Husson University in Maine, playing Varsity Men’s Golf for 5 Years. While competing at Husson University in the North Atlantic Conference, Husson won the Conference Championship in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020. At Husson, Bailey received a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and a master’s degree in Business Administration.

After years of modeling his craft Bailey qualified to compete at NCAA Division 3 National Championship in 2020 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. This propelled Bailey towards becoming Head Golf Professional at White Mountain Country Club in Ashland, NH. Bailey has been with White Mountain Country Club since 2015 and became the Head Golf Professional in 2020. Bailey offers private and group lessons focusing on pre-shot routine, course management, short game and the fundamentals of the golf swing.

Eric Aguiar

Assistant Golf Professional

A native to the Plymouth area, Eric Aguiar started playing golf as a sophomore at Plymouth Regional High School. His passion and love for the sport pushed him to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Administration in Outdoor Recreation at the University of Farmington in Maine. During his time here, Eric was an active member of the golf team and led his team as captain his Junior and Senior season. Eric gained three collegiate wins, as well as, the accolades of First Team All-Conference his sophomore year and Second Team All-Conference his junior year.

After graduating, Eric began his journey into the profession as the Assistant Golf Professional at Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club. This experience helped him gain valuable experience in customer service, golf instruction, and tournament/business operations. He furthered his leadership skills by serving on the New England Assistant Association board as Vice President in 2021. During the winter months through 2019-2021, Eric was an Assistant Golf Professional at Pelican Marsh Golf Club in Naples, FL. This experience helped Eric further develop his professional and competitive experience. Eric is currently registered as a PGA Associate and his passion for the business of golf inspires him to continue to be a certified PGA Professional.

Eric offers instruction in private lessons, group lessons, short game lessons, junior lessons, and playing lessons. Eric believes that every golf swing is unique, and the real enjoyment in the game is challenging yourself to be the best you can possibly be.

Luana Stanciu

Director of Racquet Sports (PBI)

Luana Stanciu originally from Bucharest, Romania, is the Director of Racquet Sports with Peter Burwash International at Owl’s Nest Resort. Stanciu successfully participated in the Professional Tennis U program with Cliff Drysdale Tennis Management while working at Saltaire Yacht Club, Fire Island in NY, and the Omni Amelia Island Resort in Florida.

The foundation of her successful tennis career is rooted in Romania where she grew up with her parents Danut and Luminita and her 2 brothers. Under coach Moraru Gabriel at the G&M Tennis Academy, she achieved top rankings in Romania’s U16 and U18 age groups.

Stanciu moved to the US after she received a scholarship at the University of Louisiana and contributed to winning the Sun-Belt Championship. In 2017, she obtained a full scholarship for the Women’s Tennis Program at the University of South Dakota and represented the team for 2 years. In 2020, she graduated with a MA in Kinesiology & Sports Management and decided to put her skills and education into practice by pursuing a professional career in tennis.

In addition to being an excellent tennis player and coach, Stanciu has experience playing and teaching Pickleball.
