Director of Golf Operations, Jim Swarthout, graduated from Mississippi State University in 1993 with a B.B.A. in Marketing and completed The PGA Golf Management Program. Upon graduation, he was hired by The Friel Golf Company and named Assistant Golf Professional at the Country Club of New Hampshire in 1993. Jim became a member of the PGA in 1994. From 1994 to 2022, he remained with Friel Golf and was promoted to Head Golf Professional at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club, where he worked alongside the late Phil Friel Sr. on expanding the course from 9 to 18 holes.

Over the next 28 years, Jim’s responsibilities grew to include White Mountain Country Club, where he served as Director of Operations for both facilities. In 2006, Jim became PGA Certified, and in 2008, he achieved the prestigious title of PGA Master Professional (PGA of America’s highest designation), becoming only the 242nd to do so and the 4th in New Hampshire.

Jim’s playing career began at the junior level in Ohio and continued through college, ultimately advancing to the professional level, where he has secured multiple event wins in the New Hampshire Chapter of the PGA and earned three selections to the NH Challenge Cup team.

Having dedicated his career to playing, teaching, and mentoring in the sport of golf, Jim is excited to embark on this new chapter at Owl’s Nest Resort and the Owl’s Nest Vineyard Course, and he looks forward to the great things to come.

Cole took his first swing at golf when he was ten years old. He played Varsity Golf for four years at Campbell High School, competing in the 2015 and 2016 NHIAA Golf Championships. Cole graduated in 2017 and began working at Amherst Country Club. He then went on to play at Plymouth State University, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Criminal Justice. During his time at Plymouth State University, he was offered a part-time job at Owl’s Nest in the fall of 2018. While at Plymouth State, he qualified for the NCCGA Championship in his senior year and competed at Seaview Resort in New Jersey.

Upon graduating from Plymouth State in 2021, he accepted a position as the Assistant Golf Shop Manager. In 2022, he was promoted to SportsNest Operations Manager, where he oversees the daily operations of the golf course and racquet complex.

Jack Beaulieu began playing golf in his last year of high school and quickly fell in love with the sport. He continued to develop his passion for the game at Plymouth State University, where he studied Business Administration and graduated with honors. He also played golf competitively on the Plymouth State Club Golf Team throughout his four years at the university. It was the members of the club golf team who introduced him to Owl’s Nest, and he began working as an outside services attendant shortly afterward. Since starting at Owl’s Nest, Jack has been promoted to a SportsNest Attendant and is now a PGA Associate working towards his PGA Teaching Certification.

Jack brings a youthful approach to the game of golf, and his instruction incorporates creative methods to work with each player’s unique golf swing. His approach to instruction includes the use of technologies such as launch monitors, cameras, and simulators to help golfers understand the data behind their performance. He now offers private and group lessons, along with a variety of packages and unique series designed to finely tune all aspects of a player’s game.

John began his career in Golf Course Maintenance 35 years ago. After graduating from college, he moved to Maryland to become an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. After five years in that role, John accepted his first position as a Golf Course Superintendent. In 2005, a Golf Course Superintendent position opened at Owl’s Nest Golf Club, which John accepted. Despite changes in management, he has remained with Owl’s Nest ever since.

Owl’s Nest has seen significant changes in recent years, expanding John’s role to Director of Agronomy for Owl’s Nest Resort. This is a role he enjoys, as every day brings new learning experiences. It is rewarding for him to be part of a great team at a growing resort in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
