If you’re looking to hit the slopes this winter, we can give you some tips straight from the experts. Our Lodging Manager and winter sport extraordinaire, Ryan, has offered his top picks this winter season. The big 3 for skiing and snowboarding; Cannon, Loon, and Waterville Valley are boasting record openings and snow conditions this season and they’re competing for the most terrain open in the state!
Cannon
The 2022-2022 season marks Cannon Mountain’s 80th anniversary! If you feel like bringing out your inner daredevil, Cannon has the most intense terrain of the three. Some personal favorites to really get your blood pumping include Paulie’s Folly, Upper Hardscrabble, and Profile. If you want to get a little extra adventurous, take a left off Upper Cannon onto the Lost Boys Glade – it never disappoints!
Waterville Valley
Out of the big 3, Waterville Valley has the biggest improvement plans for the 2022-2022 season with massive renovations of their lodges and bars, snow making, and new lifts. The word on the street is their new Green Peak now has the lift spinning. Waterville Valley also gets the most sun out of the three, making every day feel just a little bit brighter!
Loon
Currently holding the crown for the most acreage open in the state, Loon’s high-tech snow making capabilities have proven their worth over the last couple of years. Whether you want the family atmosphere, breathtaking views, or day and night snow tubing on the Little Sister Trail, Loon has something for everyone in your group. South Peak is now open – offering even more acreage and picture-worthy opportunities! Ryan’s recommendation for a top to bottom run; Flying Fox, Grand Junction, Seven Brothers – spitting you out right at the Paul Bunyan Room, a popular beer hangout.
