Owl’s Nest Resort announced a significant step in its continued development by partnering with Nicklaus Design to oversee golf course design improvements. The project represents a long-term investment in enhancing the playing experience and overall resort amenities.
Nicklaus Design, founded by Jack Nicklaus, is one of the most recognized golf course design firms in the world, with more than 390 courses across the United States and internationally. Owl’s Nest Resort will become the only Nicklaus-designed course in New Hampshire and one of only a few in New England.
Lash explains, “We are all very excited to have a first-class organization like Nicklaus Design leading us through these improvements at Owl’s Nest.”
Corcoran adds, “Our work with Nicklaus Design at Ocean Edge, an AAA Four Diamond Resort, has provided an experience we can draw from during this development project.”
Nicklaus Design’s work will capitalize on the natural landscape characteristics of the land to enhance the aesthetics of the course, as well as focus on the course’s playability for golfers of all skill levels.
“We look forward to the opportunity in the coming months to further our design work at Owl’s Nest and to start making a visual impact on this great layout,” said Jack Nicklaus II, President of Nicklaus Design. “The northeast part of our country has such a rich heritage in golf, and so it is very meaningful to us at Nicklaus Design to now have a presence in New Hampshire. We want to make certain our work reflects our sensibility and approach to world-class golf course design. Brian Lash and Michael Corcoran have put their faith in our organization, and we want them, as well as future golfers at Owl’s Nest, to be proud of the end product.”
The preliminary plans for the modifications at Owl’s Nest include renovating bunkers and tee boxes, beginning in the spring of 2022. Most of the renovations are expected to begin in October.
“We have always focused on providing the best golf and dining experiences for our members, local residents and travelers,” said Charlie Wheeler, Director of Golf and General Manager for Owl’s Nest. “We are extremely excited to see the master plan come to fruition. Bringing in a team such as Nicklaus Design shows the ownership’s commitment to our resort.”
The project work in 2022 represents only a portion of the multi-million-dollar investment being made by LCJ Holdings.
The master plan reveals a 200-room hotel, 490 single and multi-family homes, spa facilities, wedding and corporate function facilities, tennis and golf programs, two pools, and a 02-acre pond with a beachfront. The plan has a significant focus on the activities available within and surrounding the resort property.
